Shades of Gray
We’ve been anticipating rain, I guess as a result of all the Ike activity, but it only happened once this past week (rain, that is). The sky has been changing colors, and I don’t know whether it’s because of that storm activity, or the pending change in seasons. The air is cooler, and I can feel fall coming. I LOVE the fall. Especially in these hills. These pictures are inspired by the color changes that I’m anticipating.
There’s a reason they call this area "Smoky Mountains." The mist just hangs.
My post (and your week) would be incomplete without a pond shot, so here you go:
You can see another really cool misty shot from this week here.
Play along with sky watch, or stop by and see all sorts of skies from all around the world here.

My week IS complete with the pond shot! My favorite is the first photo. But I like the peacefulness of all of them.

Ike is gone. Several cold fronts have been making their way through signifying autumn’s approach. That would account for the changes in the sky too. Great shots, Deirdre.

I guess with the seasons changing soon, grey will be the normal, good post.

They are all so beautiful, but I LOVE the last one with the mist rising off the pond — just gorgeous!
September 19th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
The pond shot looks like a hole. Not a black ‘menacing’ hole, just a mirror hole which reflects all the light in the center of your picture.
It gives a nice effect. Thanks for the pond! I threw a coin and made a wish.
Great serie.
September 19th, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Lovin’ it!
Believe it or not, this has been the first five days we have had without rain since April! AND we are supposed to have a nice weekend!!! I can’t tell you how excited I am… we have not had a Summer at all, because it rained (and flooded) all Summer.
September 19th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
By the way, I forgot to give you an invite… I don’t know if you have any critters (pets, wildlife, farm animals, insects, birds, etc) that you photograph, but if you do, we’d be thrilled to have you participate in Camera-Critters. It’s a weekend meme, and you can check it out at http://camera-critters.blogspot.com to see if you are interested. That’s all - I’m not trying to spam ya, just wanted to invite ya.
